In Memory of Cino

Cino was a big, grey Selle Francais gelding who was born in France in 1991.  From his beginning in France Cino ended up leading a long life with a lot of horse show wins to his credit. Early in his career Cino boarded a plane and moved to the states, and somehow he made his way to Beacon Hill Stables. For those that are not familiar with Beacon Hill, their name is synonymous with winning at the elite levels of the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions. Their riders have won every major equitation final and prestigious class many times. One...

Permanent Love Notes

The world would be a much less interesting place without animals and kids. We’ve shared the ongoing comedy saga of our deer family, and as you all know the only reason we have the deer family is thanks to Carter’s two year desire to have our family brought to life as lit-up reindeer. Jason posted a picture on his social media a few days ago of Carter writing in the frost on the car one morning. I will admit when I saw the picture that I thought it was a bad idea. Carter is a pro at taking a...

Welcome Moses

Moses is a Paso Fino who joined us for retirement in the beginning of November and I think he deserves a special introduction. Moses’ mom has been a friend and a client for more than a decade. We first met her in 2007 when she chose us to host her beloved horse Faune in retirement. In his early years of retirement Faune was a seriously high maintenance horse, and this led to us getting to know his mom exceptionally well as we always seemed to have issues to talk about and decisions to be made. Thankfully Faune spent his...

Jason Goes Dim

I have no idea why, but Jason has gone dim again. Jason plugged in the deer family on Sunday evening and he was back to dim Jason.  His antlers, head and neck were dark while his bum and the rest of his body lit up beautifully. He has remained dim Jason since Sunday evening and our Christmas miracle has ended. I have no idea why. Jason has no idea why. We’ve got nothing, literally, when it comes to dim Jason.  His behavior makes no sense. He partially lit up for a month. He fully lit up for about ten...

Another Sad Beginning

It looks like we have another sad beginning that needs a happy ending. We’ve had a few sad beginnings show up here. We kept Ewen who appeared three years ago in August. A little over a year ago we had a sad, skinny, elderly dog show up at the farm. We were very lucky that our wonderful friend Leslie stepped up and gave Abigail Rose a home. As of yesterday we have another dog needing a home. We’ve posted on social media and knocked on doors and have found no owners for this dog. We now have a sad,...

Dim Jason Lights Up

I never knew that our deer family would turn into a multi-post saga but somehow it did. Just when I thought our dim, misfit reindeer family was all settled we experienced a little Christmas miracle. But before I get to all of that, if you need to catch up on the saga of our reindeer family here all of the posts: The story of how we came to own the deer family   Our first try at plugging in the deer family Our second try at bringing the deer family to life, complete with replacement Jason(s) Now that you are...
