WELL LOVED HORSES, WELL EARNED RETIREMENT

Testimonials

Each lucky horse retired with us has a caring, loving owner like you who wanted only the best for their horse's retirement. Read below to learn how some of our clients came to choose Paradigm Farms.

"I don't really know how to start about Paradigm Farm without sounding like I am gushing or I am being paid to do this. You can be assured that I am not being paid, I won't guarantee about the gushing. Paradigm Farm is nothing less than wonderful. I always thought I would never "let my horse go" and that I would need to have him close to me to be a good mother. There is nothing farther than the truth. In being able to provide a well deserved "last chapter" for my Grand Prix Dressage horse, I could not have given him a better gift. Jason and Melissa don't just care for the horses, they really care about the horses. To we owners, each horse is an individual with quirks and needs that we, as owners, cherish. Melissa and Jason listen to the owners and respect those quirks and needs that are so important to us. The perfect emotional support I needed.

One of the nearly tangible elements of Paradigm Farm is that Paradigm Farm is not some last ditch effort to save a piece of property. Rather, as crazy as it may seem, they run the farm because they love to take care of retired horses. And they do take care of them - nutrition, feet, vaccinations, clipping. In a way, it is the best assisted living a horse can get without being over the top. You see, it is still very important that the horses get to be horses.

I loved the fact that Melissa totally got what a goof ball my horse was. And that he never wanted to be in the barn again in his life. So, rather than making him adjust - they adjusted to him. The farrier and vet took care of him outside the barn where he wanted to be. After all, he had earned that in his life.

When the time came to discuss the eventual final sunset, it was comforting that while we all struggled with it (because they cared about him); he was able to go with the dignity he earned during his competitive life and the joy he found in his final years at Paradigm.

OK. Maybe I am gushing too much. However, while Paradigm was a gift I was able to give my horse in his senior years; Paradigm was in itself a gift to me as someone who finally let her horse go be what he was meant to be. A horse."

“Paradigm Farms is the BEST!!!  My beloved hunter Renaissance, who I had since he was 6, was retired at Paradigm Farms and lived into his 30’s. Melissa and Jason provided the best care to my Renny.  I believe they go above and beyond and provide a wonderful, safe and loving retirement home for all the horses and other animals on their farm.  I was so happy with the care and environment that Paradigm Farms provided that I also retired Renny’s “brother” Lighty there. Lighty is very happy and healthy and is enjoying his “golden years” there.  I would definitely recommend Paradigm Farms and would not hesitate to send and retire my current show horses there when the time comes.”

Horses are a big part of my life and my family. When it became apparent that my aging dressage horse, Thor, was ready to retire from sport I was very clear on what I wanted in a retirement situation and I did my research. While there are several retirement farms that offer moderate climate, a herd environment, and expansive pastures, a majority of the places were equine businesses (boarding, training, breeding facilities) that happened to have pastures for retirement horses.

I selected Paradigm Retirement Farm because Jason and Melissa run their farm as a retirement business, this is all they do. As a result, the facilities and services are specifically structured with the retirement horse in mind. For example, they have a deliberate process for selecting the herd that your horse will become a part of, based on the horse's sex and demeanor. The orientation of your horse to its new herd is thoughtful and gradual to ensure that your horse will be accepted and confident throughout the transition. The feeding process is regular and ensures that your horse gets the type and amount of food intended, also allowing for inclusion of any supplements you want them to have. The pastures are designed with trees and shade. Pastures management is an area of expertise for Jason, so the horses have consistent access to quality forage. Farrier, dental and medical care are regularly scheduled with qualified professionals. Each pasture has access to a small barn with stalls when needed to manage any minor injuries or to provide your horse with regular stall time if you desire. To ensure your horse is clean and comfortable, horses are bathed and clipped when needed. The regular photos of the herd on the Paradigm web site and emailed newsletters keep you informed and confident of your horse's health and well being.

So with all of the above, why choose Paradigm Farm? Because of Jason and Melissa. Ultimately what you get with Paradigm is that you and your horse both become a part of their family. They care of the horses as if they were their own, never forgetting that they belong to you.”

“My thoroughbred mare MyLight has always suffered from mild breathing issues and arthritis.  Six years ago, when she was 18, I knew I had to make a decision as the arthritis was getting worse.  With the breathing issue, the best option for her was 24 hour turnout, but being that we live in northeast Ohio, that would be tough, so I googled ‘retirement farms’.

Thank goodness I found Paradigm Farms.  I first contacted Melissa Webb in March of that year and by May, my horse was on a rig (thank you Tapp Transportation, another great suggestion from Melissa), heading for middle Tennessee.  I was a nervous wreck as my horse means the world to me and I was shipping her to a farm I had never seen (except on a CD, thanks again Melissa) and to people I had never met!

Everything was seamless.  Melissa sent me pictures the moment MyLight arrived and she looked happy and healthy.  I mean 24 hour grass turnout for a horse that had lived in a stall her whole life...MyLight was in heaven!  It has been nothing but positive ever since.  I visit MyLight once a year and she always looks great.  She loves being in a herd of mares and ponies and does not mind being out in all weather.

One could not find better people than Melissa and Jason Webb.  They are professional, hard working dedicated people that treat each horse in their care with kindness and respect.  I wish every horse could have the opportunity to be retired at Paradigm Farm. I cannot imagine a better situation for their golden years.”

“Having the opportunity to retire my horse, Hesse, at Paradigm Farm has been wonderful.  Melissa and Jason are professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate.  They provide excellent care in an extremely horse-friendly environment.  After years of training, competing, and traveling, Hesse deserved the best retirement that I could give him.  Now, each time that I get an update, pictures, or look at the blog, I know that found the right place.  Hesse is thriving as a member of his retirement herd and I know that Paradigm Farm has been the best choice for him.”
